I have deployed to the North Lands for work and it's very hectic. Unlike all of my other jobs this year, I haven't had time to workout this week or really eat very well. The diet is kinda good, but only in a really bad way. Like instead of delicious one whole egg, four egg white omelet with veggies, fresh fruit, and whole grain toast or steel cut oats, I enjoy Egg McMuffin and orange juice. Lunch I can still hit the salad bar at whatever grocery store I can find out in the field. Dinner is a nightmare of chips and salsa, bread and butter, salty, buttery steaks or chicken or fish and some "fresh" veggies cooked in oil and lathered in salt. I remember that when I go from a crap diet to a clean diet, my body makes some minor gastrointestinal adjustments. Now, as I transition back into a crap diet (in my defense, kicking and screaming) the same thing is happening. My usual regular regularity is haywire, my sleep is disrupted, and I have a general feeling of malaise and ick. I'm sure additional stress of the job is contributing to that, which is why it's all the more important that I get my diet straightened out.
As for working out, up until this point, I haven't even had time to see where the closest gym is let alone get a workout in. I will say that I have only missed one workout this week so far and I want to try to keep it that way. I just took a week off two weeks ago and I don't want to get set back a week in my program.
Whatever shall I do?
Enter, my new hotel. I just changed hotels today to a place a lot closer to my area of operations and this place is the Taj Mahal compared to the place I just left. Hell, there's even granite countertops! They serve a decent, free breakfast with eggs and fruit and toast, which will work just fine. And the kitchenette in my room is rather nice so dinners should be no problem. What's even better is that there is a fitness area downstairs that has honest to goodness free weights (no squat rack or bar bells, though). What's even better-er than that is that the hotel has free passes to a gym down the street so I can go whenever I want to. For free. Bam boom!
In other news, the breathing squats from a few weeks back really kicked my ass. The objective is to do as much as you can with a certain weight, and then do a bunch more by taking little rests between reps. It definitely worked. By the time I finished with a set of 20 with the weight I usually do 12 with, I was knackered. I highly recommend them.
Current weight: 178
