The stuff on my bed is a white shirt and a towel. I make my bed like a grownup.
Due to a schedule malfunction, I missed Yoga X on Thursday (I didn't make it back to the hotel until something like 9:30pm). So I decided to call that my day off for Week Two and bump Yoga over to Sunday, my traditional day off. Since there is a lot of stretching in Yoga, I figured I could skip X Stretch today and just do Yoga.
My new impressions of Yoga X are that it's not bad when I use the blocks. It's also a great workout. What the heck am I saying, they are ALL great workouts. But Yoga X is one of the tougher ones in the bunch.
The above photograph was taken halfway through the routine - a mere 45 minutes. There's no jumping around, there's no running in place, and there's no plyometrics or side kicks. Just holding a position for 30 seconds. That's it. Seems like yoga would be for sissies, right? Yeah, I don't think so. It kicked my ass big time. I finished the workout about an hour ago and I feel great. Even though its hard and I wouldn't be caught dead doing it in front of some of my more tough-guy friends, I'll keep Yoga X in my arsenal as a good strength and flexibility builder. I think it can also be a good overall fitness gauge - if I suck at Yoga, I probably suck at most everything else. If I can hold good deep poses for the entire 30 seconds or minute and not feel like I am about to die, it means I am getting stronger. And that's my goal.
Today is also an involuntary off day from work. That's right, I love my job so much I have to force myself to take days off. After all, I don't get paid just for showing up and I happen to like it that way. But I have been at it for several weeks straight without a day all to myself. So for today: No phonecalls, no estimates, no returning voicemails, no meeting contractors; no inspections. Just me. What am I going to do with the rest of today? I have no idea, but the only thing having to do with "work" will be my Yoga X "workout" and that's done already.
Ah, Day Off is a fine thing.
